Anna Wintour Highlights Queen’s New Year Honors List

The Queen’s New Year honors list has been released, bringing with it many big names who will be recognized by Queen Elizabeth early this coming year. Anna Wintour, Victoria Beckham and Anya Hindmarch are three prominent names included, along with many others like Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Vivienne Westwood, Natalie Massenet and Zandra Rhodes.

Specifically for Wintour, this will be her second time being named as Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. The artistic director at Condé Nast and editor at Vogue currently, her first came eight years prior. Her second inclusion on the list is higher, however, with the cabinet office noting her continued contributions to the fashion industry and emerging designers.

“Anna Wintour has been a tireless advocate for established and emerging designers. In the U.K. alone, she has promoted the careers of such talents as Sarah Burton, John Galliano, Christopher Bailey, Erdem Moralioglu and Christopher Kane,” stated a representative from the Cabinet Office.

For Anya Hindmarch, she is receiving the honor of Commander of the Order of the British Empire for her service to fashion as well. This comes just after being given the Walpole award for digital innovation this previous November.

Beckham’s inclusion, while noted by Daily Mail prior to the list’s release, is just as exciting as she joins her husband, David, as being one of the prestigious few to be named OBE.
