“We are excited to present the audio-visual and scent infused screening program to our cinemas in North America by STUDIO FOLIE who have brought stimuli to a new level.” — Jo Addy
For the first 2017 olfactive film screening program, five prominent perfumers from SYMRISE (Nathalie Benareau, Evelyne Boulanger, David Apel and Maurice Roucel) were invited to select a specific scene/moment in an ALMODÓVAR film and to develop an exclusive scent as a result of their personal emotional response to a moment or character in each film. Films screened under the program in MAY include ‘ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER’, ‘VOLVER’, ‘TALK TO HER’, ‘WOMAN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAK DOWN’, and ‘BROKEN EMBRACES’.
Launched in 2014 exclusively as a SOHO HOUSE BERLIN and LONDON member experience, LE CINÉMA OLFACTIVE is an olfactive culture program that brings together the mediums of scent and cinema. For each olfactive screening held exclusively at SOHO HOUSE cinemas throughout the year, a visionary perfumer is invited to create a scent in response to a moment or scene in a film. The final fragrance is then diffused in the cinema at these particular moments and each guest that attends the screening are offered a bottle of the scent as a way of remembering and revisiting the experience. The fragrance is later launched under FOLIE À PLUSIEURS – FILM collection.
“The goal of our Olfactive Film Screening Program and Film Collection is to use scent as a device for accentuating the experience of cinema and through scent create a deeper emotional connection and a way of remembering or delving deeper into the nuances of the material.”
