The rumors can be put to rest: Ralph Lauren is indeed returning to the official calendar soon. In fact, invitations have been sent by email already for his private showing during New York Fashion Week: Men’s later this month.
Lauren’s brand was absent from the event’s showing in July 2015, but is expected to show his Purple Label on February 1st. It will take place at the brand’s Madison Ave headquarters to a select audience.
He is tentatively scheduled to show on both February 1st and 2nd, the last two days of the week’s planned. So far, however, the invitations have only included available times between 9 AM and 6 PM on the 1st.
Purple Label is also Ralph Lauren’s most extravagant collection. It was last shown in Milan, additionally marking the end of the brand’s hiatus from the official calendar for twelve years in June 2015 before his absence up until now.
Even with a private showing, the designer’s collections for men have usually followed that plan. The thought has been that it allows his audience to get a much closer and intimate look at the collection. It makes even more sense considering the Purple Label’s prominence among Ralph Lauren’s men’s offerings to date.
News of Lauren’s inclusion in New York Fashion Week: Men’s adds a lot to the excitement on top of the announcement of Raf Simons’ showing. Running from January 30th to February 2nd, this year’s men’s collections will be flush with anticipation as we inch closer to the end of the month.
