On Oct. 18th, Caitlin M. Kiernan celebrated the successful launch of her first book, Pretty Sick: The Beauty Guide For Women With Cancer at the Benefit Cosmetic boutique in Soho. The Pretty Sick Brows & Book Bash was a wonderful & inspiring evening.
The night kicked off with a private makeup tutorial class for women in various stages of cancer treatment. During the class, Caitlin and Benefit educator Jessica Campitiello, shared tips on how to create brows after chemotherapy-induced hair loss; how to adjust foundation shades and use primer when skin is showing the effects of treatment; and how bronzer can fake a healthy complexion. It was an informative and empowering class for this group of true warriors.
After the class, the boutique quickly filled up with guests who sipped on Moet Chandon’s Imperial Rosé Champagne while enjoying complimentary brow services – from waxing to tinting – and makeuppers. Guests included former Real Housewives of New York and founder of VSpot Cindy Barshop, dentist to the stars Dr. Brian Kantor, celebrity makeup artist Ramy Gafni, Good Morning America correspondent Rachel Smith and celebrity hairstylist David Lopez. Light bites and refreshments were provided by Core Water and GoMacro Bars. Each guest left with a goodie bag which included Sugarfina gourmet gummies, a selection of Benefit’s top-selling products and a signed copy of Pretty Sick.
Caitlin described the night as, “A celebration of survival, life and paying it forward.”
