LUXE PACK NEW YORK, part of “THE” global platform for creative packaging celebrated its 15th annual trade show on May 10-11, 2017 at New York’s Pier 92! As the premier show for creative and innovative packaging, LUXE PACK is continuously dedicated to developing new dynamic show elements to offer the most valuable B to B trade show experience possible. 2017 promised be no exception! Echoing from its consistently growing success, LUXE PACK NEW YORK produced a show of supreme proportions. LUXE PACK featured 230 leading global packaging manufacturers and suppliers within the beauty, fragrance, wine and spirit, and gourmet food, fashion sectors and anticipates welcomed over 3600 industry senior executives and industry creatives. LUXE PACK NEW YORK offered dynamic packaging products, solutions, an interactive workshop, and a 2-day robust conference program that offered “Alternate Worlds” insight and concepts.
“Igniting Packaging Innovation through Alternative Worlds” was a running thread throughout the 2 day event. Creative thinkers don’t conjure great ideas from nowhere, instead they look at common things in uncommon ways. A cross-pollination concept that LUXE PACK integrated into the show. Visual inspiration and storytelling in a way that LUXE PACK has never done before. Guaranteed a visually dynamic, inspiring, and insightful experience.
LUXE PACK also announced the official launch of LUXE PACK LOS ANGELES that is scheduled to take place February 7 & 8, 2018!
The event also showcased LUXE PACK’s “in green” awards, highlighting some of the best and articulate craftsman in eco-friendly product design. The 18 submissions were judged by a panel composed of the most knowledgable executives in creative packaging today.
Of those serving on the panel were Jamie Matusow, Editor-In-Chief at Beauty Packaging Design Magazine, John Morgan, Global Senior Research Scientist Discovery Open Innovations at Amway, Doug Huffmyer, Elizabeth Arden Inc.’s Vice President of Creative Direction, James Neri, Vice President of Global Package Development at Estée Lauder, Jennifer Lacy Smith, Vice President of Packaging at Oribe Haircare, and Daniele Doche, Global Senior Packaging Development Manager Americas, Bacardi. These individuals were tasked with choosing the award recipients for both the Best in green product and Best in green initiative awards.
It wasn’t an easy task by any means, as the competition all carried exceptional concepts. Still, a winner had to be chosen for both.
Chosen for the honor of Best in green product was Scheufelen’s Promobox “Dein Kräutergarten.” Their laminated board showed grass content with a fiber composition, ultimately offering the premium printing the best SBS boards want while doing so in a more sustainable and eco-friendly way. In essence, it gives the benefit of environmental awareness for brands to display to clients while still conveying the highest quality possible for their own image in the process.
Finding themselves as the recipients of the Best in green initiative award was James Cropper’s solar array installation plan. Located in Burnside, England, the plan aims to provide solar power on the roofs of nearby mills, resulting in a green route for providing power that also doesn’t sacrifice Burneside’s landscape and beauty in exchange. The project has already signed a power purchase agreement as well that will sell the generated electricity for the benefit of the community, environmentally and socially, for 20 years to come.
Once again, the 4th year of LUXE PACK NEW YORK’s in green awards have proven to find cleaner alternatives for tomorrow with the brightest minds we have today.
