Last night fashion’s elite ascended upon New York City at The Metropolitan Museum of Art for the annual Met Gala, this year honoring Ria Kawakubo and her brand Comme des Garçons. The chairs for the evening were Katy Perry, Pharell Williams, Gisele Bündchen, Tom Brady and of course, Anna Wintour.
This years dress code was Avant Garde and the attendees sure did turn it out. Long dramatic train seemed to be the go-to for the evening like Priyanka Chopra, Gigi Hadid, Blake Livley and Nicki Minaj did. Slinky elegant numbers were also on display from the likes of Kendel Jenner, Elizabeth Banks and Naomi Watts. Red and black turned out to be the color-trend of the night with Rhianna, Ashley Graham and Emma Roberts choosing red, and Celine Dion, Bella Hadid and Candace Swanepoel opting for black.
As for the beauty department, most celebs kept true to the theme and went for a dramatic look. Hair pulled back or blunt wigs seemed to be the hair trend and bold eyes and lips made a statement. Lilly Collins had wore a dark eye with a matching black bob wig; Kylie Jenner, Kerry Washington and Rita Ora also went for a wig as well. Selena Gomez and Mandy Moore were some of the many who went for a dramatic eye making their gowns really pop and Miranda Kerr and Emmy Rossum going for a bold red lip.
Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between is on display to the public at the Anna Wintour Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from May4th-September 4th.
