The LIE SANGBONG Fall-Winter 2016 collection is a study in contrasts and juxtapositions. Inspired by retro military garments and lavish Victorian vestments, designer Lie Sang Bong pairs austerity and softness, masculinity and femininity, and function and fashion.

Signature prints are substituted for texture. Delicate lacework adorns silk blouses with voluminous sleeves and Mongolian wool jackets. Woolen coats are embroidered with frayed, handwoven details, brass military buttons, or leather trims appliqued with hand stitching. Rich velvets, in colors such as fuchsia and emerald green, are washed or reworked to create a patterned sheen effect. Suede overcoats and trousers are imprinted to appear tarnished or torn. Black astrakhan and colorful or monochromatic fox fur collars and lapels are applied to overcoats and jackets.

Luxurious, yet utilitarian, designs are both sophisticated and functional. Silhouettes suggest comfort and ease. Wide-legged trousers are cropped at the ankle or pooled at the feet. Maxi dresses and blouses are loose and synched at the waists and wrists. Men’s blazers are reworked into sashes and shoulder bags, while long belts hang slack and adrift.

The LIE SANGBONG Fall-Winter 2016 collection will be available in September 2016 at retailers across the globe, including the brand’s US flagship located at 30 Gansevoort St in New York City.
