Pulling out of New York Fashion Week is seeming becoming a trend in and of itself. Brand after brand has announced their decision to relinquish their time slot in favor of other locations and dates.

Lacoste is now the most recent name to back out of showing New York. Rather, the brand is expecting to have a show in Paris this September to celebrate their 95th anniversary.

The French fashion house made their announcement to WWD, with creative director, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, commenting on the transition.

“It’s a homecoming, a bit of a change. I will miss coming to New York,” he stated during Lacoste’s fall show.

Making the switch from showing in New York has been an unexpectedly popular choice. Tommy Hilfiger, for one, just concluded his spring show in Los Angeles a few days ago. He joins Rebecca Minkoff, Rachel Comey and Rachel Zoe among those staging shows there rather than in New York this year.

Lacoste isn’t the only one choosing Paris over New York either. Rodarte has also chosen to have their show in Paris instead. Conversely, fashion houses like Givenchy have always been showing in Paris, aside from their appearance in New York two years ago.

The notable names declining to show in New York are adding up, making the possibilities for future shows in the city a tentative subject.
