The prominence of having male and female-specific clothing lines still exists, though it hasn’t stopped designers and fashion brands worldwide from appealing to all of their consumers. Creating clothing that is more universally accepting of all gender identities is becoming much more common.
H&M joins those brands later this month with the upcoming release of their unisex denim collection. Featuring denim workwear like jackets, tunics, jeans, skirts and shorts, Denim United reflects affordable clothing for a market filled with the unmet needs affecting millions of consumers annually.
“It’s very natural for us to launch a unisex collection since fashion is constantly evolving and intersecting. Today, we see that there are no boundaries in democratic style. Fashion should always be inclusive,” stated a H&M spokeswoman.
The collection brings the appeal of gender-neutral options with less environmental impact alongside it. Each comes in different washes, made from sustainable and recyclable fabrics. They all have an oversized style to swap and mix between lots of different looks.
“The denim pieces combined with high neck T-shirts or an oversize hoodie make for the quintessential normcore look,” the spokeswoman added.
The pieces range in price between $14.99 and $19.99 and launch exclusively online for H&M on their website, hm.com, starting March 23rd.
