Deborah Lippmann’s Academy Awards 2016 Beauty Report: Alicia Vikander, Charlotte Rampling, Common & Daisy Ridley

With over two decades of Red Carpet under her belt, legendary Hollywood manicurist Deborah Lippmann worked with this year’s most glamorous and talked about ladies (and gentleman) at the 2016 Oscars, including nominees and presenters Alicia Vikander, Charlotte Rampling, Common and Daisy Ridley.

Lippmann shares, “The Academy Awards is the biggest event of the year in Hollywood and it is such an honor to be a part of this monumental occasion. Year after year, I am amazed by the incredible talent that I get to hold hands with. No matter if they are a presenter or a nominee, it’s about making sure that she or he looks and feels their best for this incredible night. For nominees, I am always conscious that if she wins, photographs of her holding her Award will be everywhere. This is her moment to shine and her hands and nails should not be a distraction, but should enhance the overall moment.”

As one of the most sought-after celebrity manicurists, Deborah has had the amazing fortune to hold hands with 7 Academy Award winners (Lupita Nyong’o, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Reese Witherspoon, Hilary Swank, Meryl Streep and Common) on the night they won their award.

ALICIA VIKANDER:

Alicia Vikander is a nominee for “Actress in a Supporting Role” as Gerda Wegener in The Danish Girl. The actress went for a surprisingly romantic look this evening that took the Red Carpet by storm, wearing a gorgeous dusty yellow strapless Louis Vuitton couture gown. Deborah opted for a nail look that was soft and ethereal, with a bit of a shimmery feel, as the ultimate finishing touch.

Lippmann adds, “2015 was such an incredible year for me personally having worked closely with Caitlyn Jenner, who introduced me to the tremendous issues surrounding the transgender community. To be working with Alicia all Red Carpet season and honoring her role in The Danish Girl feels like such an extraordinary extension of this journey. Alicia did an unbelievable job of sharing this touching story. She is such a brilliant actress and a true beauty beyond beauty, both inside and out. All season long she’s slayed it on the Red Carpet and tonight is no different!”

CHARLOTTE RAMPLING:

Charlotte Rampling is a nominee tonight for “Actress in a Leading Role” as Kate Mercer in 45 Years. “Charlotte is a true legend in the industry. Donning Armani Prive in the most exquisite fashion, we decided to play with a masculine feminine attitude, and added a bit of toughness to complement her earrings with a darker nail,” Lippmann shares.

COMMON:

Returning as a presenter at this year’s awards, Common accepted his award alongside John Legend at the 2015 Oscars, where they won for Best Original song for “Glory” from the film Selma. Lippmann states, “Being groomed from head to toe is important for men too on the Red Carpet! Common is meticulous about details and seems to enjoy the relaxation aspect of the manicure. We added a little bit of shine to this buffed nail for something unexpected.”

DAISY RIDLEY:
