The Cosmetic Executive Women Foundation (CEWF) honored Laura Geller, founder of cosmetics firm Laura Geller New York, at its annual Beauty of Giving Luncheon on December 9th for her generosity and commitment to Cancer and Careers. The event celebrated the philanthropic achievements of the beauty industry and all proceeds went to benefit CEW’s signature charity, Cancer and Careers, a national non-profit which empowers and educates working people with cancer.
Geller’s personal dedication to Cancer and Careers spans the last decade. She has served as a CEWF Board Member, ambassador, program supporter, event sponsor and cause marketing partner. She has inspired a company-wide commitment to the cause at Laura Geller New York, which has donated more than $500,000 to date. In addition, the company has donated $600,000 worth of products to the CEW & QVC Present Beauty with Benefits broadcasts, where Laura’s on-air presence has helped raise millions for working people with cancer.
“The CEW Foundation is so fortunate to have industry icons like Laura Geller provide support for Cancer and Careers,” says Kate Sweeney, Executive Director of CEW Foundation. “From her commitment to supporting Laura Geller New York employees who are working through cancer, to her exceptional generosity over the years, Laura is an inspiration to us all.”
Geller, who began her career as a makeup artist working on Broadway and with New York celebrities, created her own beauty line and launched it on QVC 20 years ago next Spring. Her Spackle® collection of primers and Baked cosmetics have been best-selling favorites for over a dozen years.
When Geller took to the podium, she started to tear up after a video montage of her supporters spoke about her wonderful achievements and generosity to the charity. When she began, she asked the crowed to stand if “yourself or a loved one was ever affected by cancer,” and the whole room stood up making it a very powerful moment.
The luncheon, which was held at the Waldorf Astoria New York, and came to a close with a live auction in which one-of-a-kind experiences were sold to benefit Cancer and Careers. This year’s live auction prizes include:
- Grammy Awards Hollywood Glam Package
- Cabo San Lucas Golf Getaway for Four
- Hawaiian Holiday at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai
- World-Class River Cruise to Burgundy and Provence

This year they raised $732k, with $564,600 from sponsorships, table and ticket sales, $75k from the auction and $110k from fund a need. The event beat out last year’s Beauty of Giving Luncheon which raised more than $650,000 to support Cancer and Careers’ free services for working people with cancer.
