The incomparable Bill Murray, is far from the average personality. Anyone who’s seen his classic groundskeeping role in Caddyshack can attest to this, not to mention numerous other notable performances. This is the kind of basis that brings interest and curiosity to his influence when considering what could come from a clothing line with his name behind it, especially relating to a sport as serious as golf.
Murray, in collaboration with Fashion Plate, is looking to give the casual golfer a wardrobe with his stamp of approval. Murray Brothers LLC. is currently working in partnership with Resignation Media to launch William Murray Golf, a lifestyle and apparel brand swimming in references to Bill’s role in the infamous golf film. Available from Resignation Media’s site and williammurraygolf.com on October 20th, it has been described as a little irreverence and a lot of style with the logo being Bill throwing his club in an errant shot. The brand has also pegged 15-year PGA veteran Pat Perez to serve as their first ambassador.
For those who can’t wait to get their hands on a few of the items, Murray has released a Chicago-themed polo and two flexfit hats from the brand today to celebrate his 66th birthday. The polo, featuring pinstripes that mimic a baseball jersey and made with both moisture-wicking and wrinkle-resistant fabric, is on sale for $75 while the flexfit hats are priced at $32 and come with the WIlliam Murray logo on the front in script. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from their sale will be donated to the Murray family’s Chicago charity, Mercy Home For Boys & Girls.
Murray’s real-life golf experience is extensive, having won the Pebble Beach Pro-Am Tournament and being inducted into the Caddie Hall of Fame along with his five brothers. Together, the Murray brothers host the Murray Bros. Charity Golf Tournament annually in St. Augustine, Fla. It is safe to assume that many golfers and fans of Bill Murray’s career will be waiting anxiously for the release of the entire collection in late October.
