ADF&PCD Holds Inaugural Conference in New York

The first edition of ADF&PCD New York (Aerosol & Dispensing Forum, and Packaging of Perfume, Cosmetics & Design) was an overwhelming success, according to visitor attendance as well as feedback from attendees, exhibitors and speakers, reported Christelle Anya, Event Director, Oriex. The event, held September 13 and 14 at The Altman Building and Metropolitan Pavilion, attracted 1,747 packaging professionals over the two days and featured more than 60 speakers and 110 exhibitors.

“We are delighted with the response to our first event,” said Anya. “The feedback from the market has been exceptional, with incredible buzz during the event. The reaction to ADF in particular has been absolutely phenomenal! Since there isn’t any other aerosol and dispensing show in America, it was wonderful to see visitors travelling here from all over the United States. The overwhelming success of this inaugural event places us in excellent position for developing this show in New York in future years.”

Many of the seminars presented at the event attracted standing-room-only crowds. All 61 speakers put a strong focus on technical innovation, trends and education as the pathway to the future of packaging. Sessions leaders included Henry Renella, Senior Vice President Global Package Development, The Estée Lauder Companies; Bernhard Felten, Front End Innovation-Packaging, Beiersdorf AG, Bernard Quennessen, VP Packaging Concept Design, Fragrance American Brands, Coty, USA; Laurence Joly, Packaging Expertise Dispensing & Aerosols, L’Oréal, Peter Lamboy, Director of Packaging Development, Kao Europe Research Laboratories; among others.

Conference Speakers and Visitors Speak Out about ADF&PCD New York

Speaker Marianne Klimchuck, Chairperson of the Packaging Design Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology, said: “Thank you for inviting me to be part of the first annual New York PCD Conference. What a wonderful experience it has been working with you all. From everything I heard from the attendees, it was a conference and show floor with great energy and was a very worthwhile experience. Congrats!”

While visiting on the first day, Michael Partridge, Vice President of Prestige Beauty, said: “I am very impressed with ADF&PCD. It is fantastic to finally have an aerosol show in America. The beauty of this event is that the vendors, manufacturers and brands are all together in one spot. And we have not only packaging but also aerosol and dispensing here. I have some appointments with my suppliers today and will also walk the show to see who else is exhibiting. I’m planning to catch a seminar or two as
well. Great show!”

Valery Vanstaan, PhD, Senior Project Engineer, Global Tool Unit at ITW Construction Products, added: “The ADF&PCD show was a hit! Congratulations to the organizing team!”

Bernhard Felten, Global Packaging Research & Development at Beiersdorf AG, explained: “In the U.S., the landscape is totally different to that of Europe and this event bridges the gap as an exchange to begin building a community to find innovation solutions and inspiration together to develop new ideas.”
