(March 28, 2016) – New York, NY – The Fragrance Foundation announces Oscar Nominated, Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor and film producer Alec Baldwin will return as host of The Fragrance Foundation Awards 2016; Sophia Grojsman, Vice President Senior Perfumer at International Flavors and Fragrances will receive the Lifetime Achievement, Perfumer award; Cosmopolitan Magazine Editor-in-Chief and Seventeen Magazine Editorial Director, Joanna Coles will be honored with the first-ever Gamechanger award, and Leslie H. Wexner, Chairman, Founder and CEO of L Brands has been named the Hall of Fame honoree.
Alec Baldwin proved to be a lively host at the 2015 ceremony, despite attending the birth of his first son with wife Hilaria that morning. Baldwin kept the show moving with the trademark wit that led to multiple awards – including 3 Golden Globes and 2 Emmy’s – as “Best Actor in a Comedy Series” for his starring role on NBC’s 30 Rock.
“We could not be more pleased to have Alec Baldwin join us again,” said Fragrance Foundation President, Elizabeth Musmanno. “His humor and off-the-cuff banter with the audience made the show last year.”
“This year’s awards are shaping up to be the most exciting and entertaining event in the Foundation’s history,” Musmanno continued, “We look forward to applauding all of the honorees.” The 2016 Lifetime Achievement, Perfumer winner, Sophia Grojsman, Vice President Senior Perfumer at International Flavors and Fragrances, is an olfactory artist responsible for such classic and enduring fragrances as Estée Lauder’s White Linen, Calvin Klein Eternity, Trésor by Lancôme, YSL Paris and Victoria by Victoria’s Secret. Originally from Russia, Grojsman joined IFF as a lab assistant in 1966. She is inspired by painting, music, cooking, dance and art, and most importantly by her love of people. “Sophia Grojsman is a true legend in our industry, having crafted some of the biggest blockbuster fragrances every created,” said Musmanno. “We are thrilled to honor her.”
New this year, The Fragrance Foundation’s Gamechanger award honors an individual or organization that exemplifies creativity and business innovation. As the Editor-in-Chief of Cosmopolitan Magazine, and Editorial Director of Seventeen, Joanna Coles oversees the best-selling women’s magazine in the United States. An early adopter of social and mobile platforms including Snapchat, where she was recently appointed to the Board, Coles has built Cosmopolitan’s audience by 13% across platforms and fearlessly uses the brand to inform and empower young women.
“Joanna Coles is the epitome of a strong, engaged woman, who uses her position to inspire everyone around her including the next generation of leaders,” Musmanno said.
Leslie H. Wexner, Founder, Chairman and CEO of L Brands will receive the 2016 Fragrance Foundation Hall of Fame Award. Often credited as the founder of specialty retailing, Wexner went on to create or transform some of North America’s most iconic brands, including Victoria’s Secret, PINK, Bath & Body Works, Henri Bendel, La Senza, Abercrombie and Fitch and Express.
“I want to thank the Foundation for this recognition,” said Leslie H. Wexner. “Fragrance has always played a leading role in the L Brands story and it is immensely satisfying to be acknowledged for our work.”
The 2016 Fragrance Foundation Awards will be held on Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York City.
